The grand finale of the Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru Ramadan Lecture Series brought together over 1,500 Muslim faithful at the Ikorodu Eid Prayer Ground, Ota-Ona, on Thursday. The spiritual gatherings, which had taken place across 16 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas, provided enlightenment and communal bonding throughout the sacred month of Ramadan.
Attendees received Ramadan food packages from Senator Abiru, while fervent prayers were offered for Nigeria’s leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. The event was not just a religious discourse but also a platform for strengthening unity and fostering social harmony.

Prominent Islamic clerics, including the Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division, Fadhilat Sheikh Seifudeen Ayinla Ademoritan Olowooribi, and the Chief Imam of Oriwu Central Mosque, Fadhilat Sheikh Yahya Olorunoshebi Oshoala Ishola As-Samadaani, commended Senator Abiru’s dedication to sustaining the lecture series. They emphasized its role in deepening peace, fostering unity, and reviving the essence of communal coexistence.

“Senator Abiru is walking in the footsteps of his father, a respected figure who was a devout supporter of Islam,” remarked Sheikh Olowooribi. “His unwavering commitment to the faith and the people of Ikorodu is commendable. May he continue to find strength in this noble path.”
The guest lecturer, Sheikh Murtador Amokomowo (Imam Oba), delivered a thought-provoking speech on the theme, “Unity as an Essential Tool for Community Development.” He underscored the need for Muslims to remain united and collectively advocate for policies that advance their political and socio-economic interests.
Speaking on behalf of Senator Abiru, Dr. (Otunba) Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, highlighted the significance of the lecture series. “Beyond religious discourse, these gatherings have become a vital platform for the Muslim community to reflect on collective advancement and social cohesion,” he stated.
“As Ramadan draws to a close, let us carry forward its lessons—faith, generosity, and unity. Let us continue to support one another, uphold Islamic values, and pray for the peace and prosperity of Nigeria,” he urged. He further called on the Muslim Ummah to pray for all leaders, including President Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu, and others, emphasizing the need for divine guidance in governance.
The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Hon. Mrs. Adebimpe Akinsola, Hon. Olusegun Olulade, Alhaja Sherifat Abiodun Ogunniyi, Alhaji Musiliu Sulaiman, and Mr. Enitan Olukotun, Senator Abiru’s media aide. Their presence reaffirmed the significance of the gathering as a unifying force within the Ikorodu Muslim community.
